Mobiles for Cash

cash for your mobile

You’ve just upgraded to the latest and greatest mobile phone. Your new phone lets you send and receive e-mail messages, play music and surf the Internet. But what do you do with your old mobile phone? Here’s our advice: Don’t throw it away. Instead, recycle your old mobile phone for cash.

There are several private companies that will accept old mobile phones and send their former owners cash in return. Several companies doing this in the UK have their own Web sites dedicated to the service. Some of these, but certainly not all, include Fonebak.com, Envirofone.com and Mobilephonexchange.com.

Sending your used mobile phone to any of these places is a wonderful alternative to simply throwing away your old mobile phone. Our country’s landfills are already home to far too many of these old phones.

And the private recycling companies will make good use of your old mobile hone. If your former mobile is still in good working order, the recyclers might send it to a charitable organization that can use it. If it’s not working, they’ll recycle its parts, to make sure they don’t end up rotting away in a landfill somewhere.

Either way, you’ve done a good deed: You’ve protected the environment and, perhaps, provided a mobile phone to an organization or individual that otherwise could not have afforded one.

The best news of all, though, is that these private companies will reward you for your good deed with cash. That’s right; every time you send a used mobile phone to a private recycling company, that company sends back an agreed-upon amount of money.

To take advantage of this, simply log onto one of the many Web sites offered by UK companies that recycle mobile phones. Type in your phone type, and then wait for an offer. If you like it, accept the offer and mail your mobile phone to the company. You can then wait for your cash to arrive.

If you don’t like the offer, you don’t have to accept it. Simply log onto another site. The odds are good that most mobile phone recycling companies will offer similar prices for used mobile phones. But you never know; you might find an offer that’s significantly more impressive.

Of course, you should take the proper steps before sending your mobile phone to any company. Simply put, remove your mobile phone’s SIM card. This way, you won’t be sending along any personal or private information. Most recycling companies that do receive phones with SIM cards still in them, will simply destroy the cards.

With so many companies offering mobile phone recycling services, there is simply no excuse for people to toss their unwanted mobile phones in the trash. Even if you don’t want to work with a private recycling company, you can still put your mobile phone to good use.

You can donate it to a local charity on your own. Most charities, after all, don’t have a lot of extra cash to spend on mobile phones. If you know of a co-worker or family member who can’t afford to buy a new mobile phone, you can donate yours. Many municipalities offer their own special drop-off days for mobile phones. Donate yours during these days.

Whatever you do, though, resist the urge to simply throw your used mobile phone in the nearest trash can. You may forget about your old phone once you do that, but it will almost certainly end up in a landfill somewhere, taking up valuable space and leeching chemicals into the soil.

You don’t want this, do you? Then get on the Internet and search for a company that recycles mobile phones. You’ll be doing a good deed for the environment and picking up some extra pocket change at the same time.
